Why we built PGS

Gravel Driveway Recovery built a reputation in the Upper Cumberland for tackling the jobs other contractors wouldn’t. Steep terrain. Difficult drainage. Properties that needed actual engineering, not just a load of gravel spread thin.

Customers kept asking the same thing: “Can you also clear the lot? Can you grade the pad? Can you install the septic?” We were already on the property. We already had the trust. We already had the equipment.

So we built Precision Grading Specialists. Same crew. Same standards. Same straight-talking approach. Just focused on land clearing, forestry mulching, site preparation, and septic installation.

How we do business

We come look first. Every estimate starts with a free on-site walk-through. You can’t price land work over the phone and we won’t pretend you can.

We tell you straight. If something is going to be expensive, you’ll hear it before we start. If a competitor would do it cheaper, we’ll tell you that too. We’d rather lose a job than start one we can’t finish well.

We hit dates. Builders depend on us hitting dates. Homeowners do too. If we say we’ll be there Tuesday, we’ll be there Tuesday.

We don’t leave a mess. When we leave your property, it’s ready for the next step. Not “mostly done.” Done.

Meet the owner

Richard, owner of Precision Grading Specialists, on a PGS jobsite with a CAT compact track loader

Richard

Richard owns and operates both Gravel Driveway Recovery and Precision Grading Specialists out of Cookeville. He’s on most jobsites personally and answers his own phone. If you call PGS, you’re probably talking to him.

He’s a member of the Upper Cumberland Home Builders Association and works with builders, developers, and homeowners across Putnam, White, Overton, Jackson, DeKalb, and Smith Counties.

Our equipment

We run a CAT-only fleet. CAT 275-05XE with the HM418 forestry mulching head, CAT 275-05 compact track loader, CAT 305-07CR mini excavator, and CAT 308-08CR mini excavator. It’s the right tool for the kind of work we do, and it’s the difference between a job that’s done right and a job that’s done twice.
